DAVID BOWSLAUGH
OWNER AND ARRANGER
David Bowslaugh is the owner and musical director of Revolution Steel Band, a dynamic Caribbean ensemble bringing the vibrant sounds of Trinidad and Tobago to audiences across Canada. Growing up surrounded by steel pan—his mother a player and his father an arranger for the legendary Sunburst Steel Band—David’s passion for the instrument began early and has shaped his life ever since.
Founded on community and creativity, Revolution Steel Band performs at festivals, weddings, corporate functions, and private events of all kinds. The group is dedicated to sharing the joy of steel pan through free teaching programs and unforgettable live performances that transport audiences straight to the islands.
ORIGINS
PK Hummingbird Steel Orchestra
While Revolution Steelband is a new, fresh movement of steelpan, many of our members began their musical journeys with PK Hummingbird. Patrick Nunes and Kay Charles founded this band in 1998 to bring free lessons to youth in the Niagara Region. While no longer performing, PK Hummingbird continues to introduce members of the community to steelpan and Trinidadian culture.
